Clinical Hypnotherapy

A flexible, collaborative approach to your goals
Hypnotherapy is an option we can explore for goals such as confidence, habits, stress and performance. We begin by talking about what you want support with and whether this approach is suitable for you.
My approach is neuroaffirming and tailored to your sensory needs, communication preferences and ways of focusing. You do not need to sit perfectly still, close your eyes or create vivid mental pictures.
Sessions are $230 for 60 minutes. Meet me in Charlestown or enquire about online appointments.
You can ask questions, pause or stop at any time. Results vary, and counselling without hypnosis is also available.
Not sure where to start? A free 20-minute introductory chat is available.

What is Hypnotherapy?

A serene, inviting scene, such as a mist

Hypnotherapy uses focused attention and agreed suggestions as part of a therapeutic conversation. We discuss your goals and decide together whether it is an approach you want to try.
Experiences differ. Some people feel relaxed; others notice alertness, concentration or a shift in how they attend to thoughts and sensations. There is no single experience you have to achieve.
We keep the process collaborative, with room for questions and adjustments throughout.

How it Works

We begin with your goals and agree on an approach that feels workable for you. Suggestions, language and pacing are adapted to your preferences.
You can keep your eyes open or closed, change position, move or ask for a pause. We can work with words, sensations or ideas rather than relying on visual imagery.
You do not need to feel perfectly relaxed or achieve a particular depth of trance. If an approach is not comfortable or useful, we adjust it together.

How a Session Starts

A cozy room with a comfortable chair or

Your first session begins with a conversation about your goals, relevant background and what helps you feel comfortable. We discuss consent, questions and the options available.
You can tell me about sensory preferences, communication needs, movement or difficulties with visualising. There is no imagination test to pass.
If we use hypnosis, we try an approach that suits you and check in along the way. Wandering thoughts are welcome; we can adapt rather than expecting you to perform hypnosis in a particular way.
You can ask to pause, change direction or stop.

Common Myths – Debunked

You do not need to switch off your thoughts, become deeply relaxed or follow a rigid script. Hypnosis is not something you have to perform correctly.
We discuss what we are doing and why, and work with your consent. You can ask questions and change your mind.
Results vary and depend on many factors. If an approach does not help, that does not mean you failed or were not willing enough. We review what is useful and discuss other options.
Hypnotherapy is one possible approach, and it is not a promise of a particular outcome.

Your Role in Behaviour Change

We agree on goals together and review what is helping. You can tell me when something feels uncomfortable, unclear or unhelpful.
Where useful, we explore practical steps you can try between sessions. We adapt these to your needs and capacity, rather than expecting a perfect routine.
If hypnotherapy is not a good fit, we can discuss counselling or other support options.
